Characterization and Antimicrobial Studies of Some Newly Synthesized Dihydrazones
Abstract
A Facile synthesis of different thiodipropionic dihydrazones have been achieved by the condensation of thiodipropionicdihydrazide (TDPDH) with m-anisaldehyde, thiophene-2-aldehyde and 4-acetyl pyridine resulting in the formation of following dihydrazones: m-anisaldehyde thiodipropionic dihydrazone (ATDPDHn) thiophene-2-aldehydethiodipropionic dihydrazone (TATDPDHn) and 4- acetyl pyridinethiodipropionic dihydrazone (APTDPDHn) respectively. All the synthesized compounds were characterized by their repeated melting point determination, TLC single spot, elemental analyses, IR and NMR spectral data. and All the compounds were screened for their antimicrobial activities against two bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli and two fungi Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus flavus. All the synthesized compounds showed appreciable antimicrobial activities in comparison to the constituting fragments.
